John the Baptist reflects for me the ongoing dialogue between art, faith, and the human experience. His story is continually revisited by artists and illustrates the relationship between art, religion, and even homosexuality. From the various interpretations throughout the ages, we see that John the Baptist provided a unique window for artists to safely explore themselves and the world.
